Our students who graduate from the Bioengineering program can work as engineers, researchers, managers in industrial organizations operating in various fields, mainly in the fields of biology, biotechnology, engineering sciences, in related departments and research laboratories of universities
+ Which courses do I take at MCBU Bioengineering Department, what is the language of education?
The course curriculum of our department has been updated with the 2022-2023 academic year and the course schedule can be found in the Instructional Plan. MCBU Bioengineering Department's language of education is 100% English.
+ I just got into your department, what should I do for registration? How can I register for courses?
Registration to our department is made through "e-devlet" portal as determined by our University. Our newly enrolled students and intermediate students are required to register for courses on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
+ How can I renew my registration?
Registration renewal is done through the UBS system with a username and password. (The username is the ID number and the password is the ID number at the first login.) Students can get help from their advisor during course selection. Adding/deleting courses can be done within the first week of the semester.
+ How can I choose the courses? Is attendance compulsory?
The total course load that students can take during the course registration period is maximum 45 ECTS in the third, fourth and fifth semesters of undergraduate programs and maximum 50 ECTS in the sixth, seventh and eighth semesters. Undergraduate students can take courses equivalent to a total of 50 ECTS credits from the third semester onwards, including the courses that they meet the prerequisites of the upper semester, provided that they are successful in all courses before the current semester and have a general weighted grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00. Students whose GPA is below 1.80 at the end of the fourth semester are considered unsuccessful students. Unsuccessful students cannot take courses from the next grade. Students are obliged to attend 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the practical courses.
+ What should I do to succeed in a course?
In our university, except for the Faculty of Medicine and graduate programs, the success grade of the course is evaluated by the relative evaluation system method. In order to be successful in a course, students must get at least 45 in the final or make-up exam. Students who get a grade below 45 in the final or make-up exam of a course are considered unsuccessful regardless of the average of that course. Grades are announced on the web address https://ubs.cbu.edu.tr.
Success evaluation is made according to the following table:
| Letter grades | Success coefficient |
| AA | 4,00 |
| BA | 3,50 |
| BB | 3,00 |
| CB | 2,50 |
| CC | 2,00 |
| DC | 1,50 |
| DD | 1,00 |
| FD | 0,50 |
| FF | 0,00 |
Also; In progress: DE, Incomplete: E, Passed: G, Failed: K, Exempt: M, Absent: DZ, Withdrawal from the course: I,
+ What should I do to graduate?
Even if students have passed all their courses, they cannot graduate if their GPA is below 2.00. For this purpose, they must take additional exams for a maximum of three courses with a letter grade of DD, DC, CC and meet the 2.00 GPA requirement. Students who have three courses left to graduate can apply for additional exams. Graduated students receive their diplomas and diploma supplements from the student affairs office of the school where the student graduated.
+ Can I study abroad during university?
Our University and Department have agreements with different departments abroad within the scope of Erasmus+ and Mevlana programs. You can study abroad for a certain period of time with Erasmus+ study mobility and internship mobility. + What is Vocational Training in Workplace (IME)? Do I need to do an internship outside of IME?
"Vocational Training in Workplace" is a new education model put into practice in order to graduate students as students with high practical skills by integrating the theoretical and practical knowledge gained by students during their education with full-time practical training in workplaces in their last semester under the name of "Vocational Training in Workplace" course. Our students will complete their last semester full-time, 15 weeks uninterrupted, working in workplaces. During this period, they will be subject to the working conditions and hours of the workplaces. For students who are subject to the Vocational Education in Management (Intern) Program, one internship consisting of 20 working days is required. Detailed information is available on our University's IME web page. https://ime.mcbu.edu.tr/Sayfa/isletmedemeslekiegitim
