Manisa Celal Bayar University Bioengineering Department was established in 2012 as the youngest department of the Engineering Faculty. In Bioengineering Department, we have 1 Proffessor, 4 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, 1 Research Assistant Doctor and 3 Research Assistants. The undergraduate program is carried out as formal education and the courses are taught 100% in English. The courses taken increase the potential of the students to take part in laboratories, public and industrial organizations in Turkey and abroad. In our department, which gave its first graduates in 2017, there are 328 students as of 2022 and new students are admitted every year with 55+2 quotas. Our department continues a Double Major and Minor Program with the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

Bioengineering; It is a branch of science that enables biological systems to be examined within the framework of engineering techniques and views and applied to technology and to provide biotechnological solutions to problems in various fields such as health, environment, food and agriculture. Since it is a multidisciplinary field of study, it interacts with various engineering branches such as chemical engineering, computer engineering, food engineering, as well as basic sciences. There are sub-studies such as biomedical engineering, genetic engineering, bioprocess engineering, tissue engineering, which are formed as a result of these interactions. The field of bioengineering, whose main goal is to facilitate human life, has gained importance in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases due to population growth, in the development of drugs, vaccines and sensors, in solving increasing food problems, preventing increasing environmental pollution, and diversifying alternative sources against decreasing energy sources. It is possible to obtain the products of living things by using biotechnological applications or to use the living metabolism as a model in various fields.

Students who successfully complete the program by fulfilling the requirements of the regulations of Manisa Celal Bayar University gain the title of "Bioengineering Undergraduate Degree"; so they can work as researchers and managers in industrial organizations and private sector operating in various fields of biology, engineering sciences and biotechnology, or undertake the task of transferring their studies in laboratories to the industrial sector.
